I recently retired my Glycerine 8 shoes. While I liked them, I felt that they were a little flat and slowed my foot transition down. All around they were comfortable, but the tongue was too short and it always seemed the laces would cut into the top of my foot because of that.
Brooks did a great job in this update. The tongue is longer and thicker removing that specific compliant I had with my 8's. The full length DNA is phenomenal. More cushioning without slowing me down. The slow is more flexible and feels like the traction the soles provide has been improved as well. Only four stars though; I feel like Brooks has a little more they could to perfect the shoe. Maybe making it more breathable and by adding the tongue tied system that is now found on the Ghost 4 and Trance 10.

I am a 25 to 30 mile a week runner, I was a loyal (any) running shoe fan, But decided to give Brooks a shot after my wife was such a fan.... I wear neutral shoes so I thought changing shoes would not be a big deal. So my first pair of Brooks I purchased the Ghost 3,I ran in these for about 6-7 months going through 2 pair seem like a great shoe light and felt great. Then I purchased the update which was the Ghost 4 and I immediately noticed the difference, did not feel the same as the Ghost 3 .... Not to be critical of the Ghost 4 model but, my feet had comformed to the Ghost 3 and the change was noticeable. I decided to look for a couple of pair of the Ghost 3 to buy could not find my size ....I went to a running store to try on different shoes to try and get that feel again of the Ghost 3, after trying on different brands I tried on the Glycerin 9 by Brooks and this was the greatest feeling shoe I had ever tried on...Any avid runner will know what feeling I had because it was almost therapeutic. I know this is my experience and may not translate to anyone else but, if you are looking for the best ride you ever had in a neutral running shoe the Glycerin 9 is the shoe for you. This typical training running shoe is one of my Brooks favorites in its category. Designed for neutral runners, it provides all the stability and comfort you expect. Use it for slower recovery runs on street and treadmills.
