In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." These shoes are top notch. Both in looks and function. They are very comfortable and extremely light and breathable, offer excellent support for athletic activities, and they also look great (in my opinion, FWIW :) I have worn just about every brand of running shoes, for sports only, not casual wear, and my next pair will definitely be from Asics again. I am very satisfied with their quality and design. Thanks, Asics, I will be back for more.

Super comfy from the first run. Great fit. Oddly, I've received a number of comments on them being quite stylish- not sure that's what I was looking for, but I'll take it :D.

Sizing different than speedstar 5. Also, the sole looked stiff. Returned it. Will order speedstar 5 again instead.Used to wear size 9.5 Speedstar 5. But, Speedstar 6 size 9.5 looks at least 1/2 size bigger and even looks wider.
